Chinese company donates 15,000 protection suits to Pakistan amid coronavirus outbreak

ISLAMABAD - Ms Yan Chen, Managing Director of Challenge Group of Companies from China, called on Prime Minister Imran Khan on Thursday and donated 15,000 protection suits to be used by the Pakistani doctors and para-medical staff while dealing with the COVID-19 cases. National Disaster Management Authority Chairman Lt Gen Muhammad Afzal and Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Yao Jing were also present on the occasion. The Chinese ambassador informed the prime minister that production of protection suits would soon start in Lahore. Yesterday, first cargo plane carrying relief goods from China had landed in Karachi. The relief goods contained one million face masks including N95 masks.

USF awards contracts of six projects’ worth Rs 2.8 billion for hi-speed broadband

ISLAMABAD - Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication through Universal Service Fund (USF) has awarded six next-generation broadband for Sustainable Development (NGBSD) projects worth Rs. 2.8 billion for the socio-economic uplift of people in the first six months of Financial Year 2019-20. Through these projects, hi-speed mobile broadband access is being provided to over nine million citizens in total, residing in 4333 mauzas spread across 13 districts. The contracts of these projects were awarded for hi-speed broadband services in Hyderabad (districts of Matiari, Tando Allahyar, Hyderabad, Tando Muhammad Khan, Badin & Sujawal), Bahawalpur (district of Bahawalpur), Rahimyarkhan (district of Rahimyar Khan), Bahawalnagar (Bahawalnagar), DG Khan (DG Khan & Layyah) and Tharparkar (Tharparkar & Mirpurkhas), according to performance report of USF, an organization under Ministry of IT and Telecommunication. Pakistan remembers war hero MM Alam on his 7th death anniversary

ISLAMABAD - The seventh death anniversary of the hero of Indo-Pak War of September 1965 Air Commodore M.M Alam is being observed today (Wednesday). Air Commodore M M Alam was awarded with the third highest military award of Sitara-e-Jurat for his dauntless and chivalrous contributions during the 1965 war. He, with his F-86 Sabre downed five Indian Air Force aircraft in 1 minute during the Indo-Pakistani War of 1965, all five aircraft are Hawker Hunter aircraft on one sortie. During the war of 1965, he destroyed 11 Indian Air force "IAF" jets nine were shot down while two were partially damaged. Nations recognized his contribution and extra ordinary skills and awarded (MM Alam) with the titles such as ‘Falcon’ and ‘Little Dragon’. M M Alam breathed his last on this day in 2013.

PCB  has been called off the Pakistan super league fifth edition due to threat of deadly Coronavirus.  According to details, PSL Season 5 has been postponed for an indefinite period after meeting between PCB and league franchises was held today. Reportedly, the decision has been taken in view rising Coronavirus cases in the country. The two semi-final matches between Multan Sultans and Peshawar Zalmi, Karachi Kings and Lahore Qalandars have been cancelled. PCB will formally announce the decision shortly.
